What's Stopping You?
Tight Forearms

Physio says:
A problem usually caused by excessive gripping of the golf club or "over gripping" for a long period with out stretching.
In the first picture notice how the trainee is having problems getting his wrist to 90 degrees, (especially the front of his forearms).
This problem can also be caused by poor grip technique.
In corporate golfers this may be caused by excessive key board work, driving and gripping the steering wheel or even holding mobile phones for too long.
In elite golfers there is a problem resulting from continued gripping during excessive practice.

Pro says:
In the golf swing lack of flexibility in the forearms can negatively affect muscle length, reducing leverage and muscle power.
Forearm tightness can also increase grip tension and squeezing of the grip leading to over controlling the club head and possible swing problems such as clubhead "throw away".
This throw away is manifested in poor timing at impact and loss of direction and distance.
Other problems may include "grip slip" or re-gripping resulting in loss of clubface control creating misdirected and bending shots (hooks and slices).
